Sterilization- Body Modification- MY CHOICE (tl;dr)

(I had intended to not reveal my gender on this blog, but this is too important… I can’t be silent about it!)

I had elective surgery on Friday, I am now CHILDFREE FOR LIFE!!!!

The procedure, known as Essure, is a revolutionary method of sealing the fallopian tubes using tiny, micro-coils. The coils, made from similar materials as the stents they use for heart surgeries, are inserted hysteroscopically (through the cervix), instead of laproscopically (through an incision in the abdomen) as in a traditional tubal ligation surgery, making this procedure much less invasive.
Over a 3 month period, scar tissue gradually forms around the coils, blocking the fallopian tubes. The eggs, when released, never reach the uterus (HAHA FOOLED YOU, EGGS.) and instead are absorbed back into the body. The procedure does not interfere with the monthly cycle.

It is, sadly, VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE to get voluntarily sterilized if you have never had a child.

Although this isn’t something other people can ever know just from looking at me, passing me on the street, or ringing up my purchase of outrageously overpriced vegan muffins, I feel it counts as a form of body modification…

I also feel, much more comfortable with myself, my identity, and my place in this world.

However, most of the people who I choose to discuss this with judge me, insisting I am too young to have made this decision, as this procedure is permanent and irreversible. I’m 22.

The medical community seemingly only cares about breeders. If I had already had a child, nobody would have complained or tried to stop me. They all insist I’m going to “change my mind” and come down with some intense, overpowering babylust someday. (Did they forget about adoption?)

You’re fucking kidding me, right? Have you ever WATCHED anybody give birth?? Just looking at pregnant women grosses me RIGHT the FUCK OUT…

MORE THAN I???

but I finally got it… thanks to an understanding young doctor. I am indebted to her forever.
